Hello! My name is Faye Akers and I have served as parish director of evangelization and formation here at St. Boniface since September 2020.
I have been married for 35 years to my husband, Kevin, and we have four adult children who are all in their twenties. I graduated from Drake University with a degree in Communications and Rhetoric and worked for about 15 years as a technical writer and corporate trainer in a number of industries, including hospitality, healthcare and manufacturing, and after that as an independent writer, trainer, and consultant.
Prior to my ministry here at St. Boniface, I served five years as communications and program manager for St. Joseph Educational Center and five years as adult faith formation director and Becoming Catholic/RCIA coordinator at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in West Des Moines.
We are all constantly moving through thresholds of conversion in our relationship with Christ and the Church, and I share that with everyone else in God's family. My relationship with Christ has changed and grown throughout my life, and I have sometimes struggled to trust when times have been difficult. The most important thing I am learning, though, is that I am God's beloved child and nothing I do (or don't do) can change that fact.
To share the joy of the Gospel here at St. Boniface, I hope to continue to meet people where ever they are on their faith journey and, to the best of my ability, to be the face of Christ to each one.
