With over 900 students in our Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade program, I am charged with overall lesson planning with the volunteer catechists, helping think of and organize service projects, planning Class Mass masses three times a year, sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation, planning and organizing family events, connecting students with the Caring Connection outreach program, and much more!
One of my favorite activities is shelter meals has been with the eighth graders and their families as part of their Confirmation service commitment. Although it is a lot of work, it is rewarding knowing the difference we’re making in so many lives – and I’m not just talking about those in need of the meal. The difference this project makes in the lives of these 8th graders is sometimes life-changing. This event is, for many of them, the first direct interaction with people really in need and the experience can be profound.
